Folktale Week 2024 – Mist

Inspired by the prompts from #FolktaleWeek2024, I set out to create a series of illustrations exploring owls and the folklore that surrounds them. This project led me to research different owl species and respond to each one through painting, pairing each image with an original acrostic poem. These poems add a layer of narrative and symbolism, deepening the storytelling behind each piece.

The piece shown here is the first in the series, created in response to the prompt Mist, and features a snowy owl gliding through a mist-covered meadow.

Majestically, silently,

In her cloak of white

Stirs mists of meadows,

Trailing dew-drops of light.
