Books That Hook - Logo illustration for the Federation of Children’s Books Conference 2026
In summer 2025, I was commissioned to create the logo illustration for theannual children’s book conference run by the Federation of Children’s Book Groups. The theme for this year’s conference is Books That Hook - Turning every child into a reader with the right book, and I wanted to capture the magic that happens when you discover a book you truly love, the way time disappears as you become completely immersed in its world.
The artwork was created using pastels, pencil, and liquid graphite, bringing a sense of subtle movement and atmosphere to the design.
This new illustration also feels like a good moment to reflect on how my work has been evolving over the past 15 years. What began with a focus on picture books for younger readers has, over the past five years, grown into a wider practice that bridges art and illustration. I’m especially drawn to children’s book projects that spark care and connection with the natural world; hopeful, purposeful stories that show how small actions can make a difference.
I’m open to commissions and collaborations with publishers, charities, and organisations who share these values, and who believe in the quiet power of art and storytelling to connect us with the natural world.
