Dove of Peace

I created this piece as a quiet response to the conflicts happening in Africa and the Middle East. It’s a simple image, but it holds a lot of meaning for me, a small act of hope in a time when it’s easy to feel powerless. When I look at it, it reminds me to lead with empathy, to be kind to the people around me, and to believe that even the smallest actions can make a difference.

I chose to keep the composition and materials simple and render it in black and white - bold yet restrained, so that the focus stayed on the form of the dove and what it represents. The bird is shaped through negative space, a quiet symbol of peace emerging from the darkness. I hoped this approach would draw the viewer in, while still leaving room for interpretation and reflection

Created using liquid charcoal, charcoal pencil, gouache and some digital editing.
